My goal is to provide an extremely comprehensive and thorough survey of the vessel’s systems, hull and propulsion. A complete pre-purchase will allow you to find the value and condition of a vessel so you can make an informed decision on the purchase. The basic survey includes a visual inspection of the vessel, as well as a thorough inspection of the engine, wiring, plumbing, pumps, hulls, etc. Whether it is a pre-purchase, reinsurance or valuation survey, Gold Coast Marine Surveying Corp. has been a leader in the marine survey field. If you are in the process of purchasing a boat, or if you already own a boat and are in need of inspection, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me. I survey hundreds of boats a year and this is my only business. I am dedicated to doing the very best for you. Member of the Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors, SAMS.
Hi! I'm Alec. I have been building and rehabilitating boats part time for 40 years, concentrating on restoring sailboats and classic wood boats. After working as a systems engineer at Cisco Systems for a quarter century, I decided to change careers and follow my passion.

A review of the engines with regards to oil and fluid levels, belt condition and hoses is performed as well as a performance review during the sea trail while under load. We work closely with other marine professionals who can assist you in obtaining further support in the inspection stafge (such as engine surveyors). We can also recommend competent repair companies in your area.
A deck level inspection is performed on all of the rigging on a sailboat. A thorough examination by a qualified rigger is recommended.
Yes, I recommend the buyer attend as I enjoy explaining the findings and systems under test. It's a great way for you to get to know the perspective boat inside and out.
